PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Encyclopedia of Environmental Health Law and Practice:
  • Provides exhaustive coverage of the purpose and practical application of this wide-ranging area of law
  • Contains the full text of all relevant statutes, statutory instruments and government guidance
  • Includes detailed annotations and commentary including coverage of all relevant cases

Forthcoming coverage will be affected in significant part by the effects of departure from the EU, and will include:
  • Substantial revision of the Introduction and the annotated material covering the European Communities Act 1972 which will be repealed on exit day
  • Thereafter the huge amount of secondary legislation listed in the Encyclopedia as being made under the authority of s.2(2) of the 1972 Act will change status, which means that that legislation is exclusively UK legislation, presumably open to revision according to the priorities of the proposed legislation
  • Existing environmental health law is concerned in part with the status and quality of goods. The Encyclopedia will track developments in the law as it engages with environmental standards
  • The draft Environment (Principles and Governance) Bill 2018 sets out how the government will maintain environmental standards as we leave the EU. This includes creating an independent regulatory body, the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP), which will scrutinise environmental law and the government’s environmental improvement plan (EIP), investigate complaints on environmental law and take enforcement action
