You will find a full catalogue of Sweet & Maxwell books, journals, looseleafs and CDs on this site. Most titles are supported by a brief description, while many include additional details on the product information pages.

Purchasing publications from our website is quick and easy. Simply add products to your shopping basket from product search results or the product information page. All of the selected products will appear in your shopping basket on the right of every page. When you are ready to complete your purchase, just click ‘checkout’ and you will be taken to your shopping basket where you can amend quantities and/or remove any products. Once you’ve finalised your order, you can checkout in three simple steps.

If you are in Europe, Africa or the Middle East you can order direct from this website. Visit the products catalogue for details of all our products including books, journals, looseleafs and CDs.

If you are outside this area, and want a Sweet & Maxwell publication, contact your nearest regional office.

You can order and pay using your Sweet & Maxwell Payer Account number or a credit or debit card.

Your Sweet & Maxwell Payer number can be found on all invoices we send you. Items ordered using your Payer number will be invoiced to you.

Customers in the EU will be charged VAT at 17,5% on CDs and online products, unless you provide a VAT exemption number/certificate. If you have a VAT exemption number/certificate email it to sweetandmaxwell.international.queries@thomson.com.

Customers outside the EU are not charged VAT.

We deliver to customers all over the world. There is a charge for delivery, which depends on the destination, product(s) ordered and their weight(s). For details of the delivery charges click here.

When your products are delivered, your local Customs may charge you a Customs’ or import fee. Please contact your local Customs office for more information about their charges.

As we are unable to deliver to PO Box addresses, please ensure that you provide us with a full street address, a contact name, e-mail address and telephone number when placing your order.

Sweet & Maxwell, IDS, W Green and Round Hall titles:

  • Europe, Africa or the Middle East: 3 to 5 working days
  • Outside Europe, Africa or the Middle East: 7 to 14 working days

Non Sweet & Maxwell titles:

  • Standard delivery: between ten days and five weeks
  • UPS or FedEx standard delivery: 7 to 10 working days
  • UPS or FedEx Express delivery: 5 to 7working days

UPS and FedEx services are subject to an additional charge.

International returns procedure
1. Contact Customer Service within 30 days from the date of the invoice either by email at sweetandmaxwell.returns@thomsonreuters.com or telephone the Customer Service Returns Line: 0845 303 7213 and quote the invoice number(s).
2. Providing the return meets the requirements of the Returns Policy, Customer Service will pre-authorise the return.
3. Customer Service will send a confirmation email to the customer including a Returns Authorisation Document, a copy of which must be enclosed in every package being returned.
4. All returned goods must be returned in their original condition.  Please repack the goods carefully using the original and any supplementary packing (if required) and firmly seal the package.
5. Please arrange for the goods to be returned by a traceable courier method to the address quoted on the Returns Authorisation Document.
6. The courier may give you a receipt upon collection with a collection reference. Please keep your receipt for future reference.
7. As soon as the correct goods have been received the customer's account will be credited.
